Vermouth
Vermouth is a fortified wine flavoured with botanicals, traditionally including wormwood, Wermut in German, which gave it its name. Turin in Italy and Chambéry in France are its historic homes, and it comes in sweet red (rosso) and dry white styles. It is essential in the Negroni and the Martini, makes a refreshing aperitif over ice with soda, and should be kept in the fridge once opened.
