Cabernet Franc wines
Cabernet Franc is a parent of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and an important grape in Bordeaux, especially Saint-Émilion, where it is a major part of Château Cheval Blanc. In the Loire Valley it makes fragrant reds such as Chinon and Saumur-Champigny. Lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon, with raspberry, violet and herbal notes, it is best served at 14–16°C with pork, duck or herb-rich dishes.
