Chardonnay wines
Chardonnay comes from Burgundy, where it makes Chablis, Meursault and Montrachet, and it is one of the main grapes of Champagne. It is remarkably adaptable: unoaked versions are crisp, with green apple and citrus, while barrel-aged ones are fuller, with butter, vanilla and toast. Pair crisp styles with seafood and richer ones with chicken, crab or lobster, chilled to 10–12°C.
