Wine Selbach Oster, Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Kabinett, 2020
The quality that the Mosel is capable of, is very apparent in this exquisite, modern Riesling. By allowing the terroir to express itself, with minimal intervention, this wine is lush, full-bodied and considered one of the top Rieslings of the region.
Characteristics
Wine Style:
White - As one of the top Rieslings from Mosel, this lush wine is full-bodied and beautifully expresses the region's terroir.
Tasting Notes:
The grapes are picked early to keep the potential alcohol in check while providing great fruit and acidity for the backbone. Slate, sweet ripe fruit, citrus, and minerality on the nose along with a hint of yeastiness. Fruit and acidity notable on the palate along with salinity. Rich, long finish.
Gastronomy:
Perfect on its own as an aperitif or with spicy food, shellfish, stews, cured meats, cheese and fruits. A top-quality wine for every day and all seasons.
Vineyards:
These vineyards of weathered Devonian slate are on a steep, contiguous slope facing south-southwest and represent some of the most prestigious sites in all of the Middle Mosel
Winemaking process:
Vinification is carried out in a combination of fuder and stainless steel, in a hands-off manner with no fining, and predominantly with wild yeasts. Minimal interference and natural approach.
Interesting notes:
This family's heritage in winemaking dates back to the 1660s and they have always been very tradition strong in creating wines with minimal intervention believing that the perfect wine comes from the perfect grape and vine.
