Wine Selbach Oster, Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Auslese, 2018
Characteristics
Wine Style:
Dessert wine - aromatic and lushful.
Tasting Notes:
"The 2018 Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Auslese Anrecht offers beautifully deep, ripe and intense tropical fruit on the nose along with spicy slate and discreet honey aromas. Sweet, lush and piquant on the palate, this is an enormously generous, sensual and voluptuous Anrecht with crystalline acidity and a pure, fine and stimulatingly salty finish. Irresistibly elegant and highly digestible! " - Stephan Reinhardt, RobertParker
Gastronomy:
Spicy food,blue cheese.
Vineyards:
The large Himmelreich (Kingdom of Heaven) vineyard mostly lies above and to the sides of the village on a predominantly west-facing slope. The relatively deep and hence marginally more water-retentive soil in this spot compared with most of Selbach-Oster’s steep Zeltingen slopes may well have conduced to greater botrytis influence, so that the marginally slimmer, brighter personality.
Interesting notes:
Anrecht south-facing parcel representing the most prized piece of the Himmelreich which was ranked in the top categories of the 1868 Prussian classification.
