About this wine

Wine Style:

Dry white wine – Light to medium body – High acidity – Mineral-driven

Tasting Notes:

Appearance

  • Pale lemon, bright
  • Nose

  • Citrus (lemon, lime), green apple, white peach, light florals, wet stone minerality
  • Palate

  • Dry, sleek, high acidity, flavors of green apple, citrus and stone fruit with pronounced minerality
  • Finish

  • Clean, persistent finish with mineral and slightly saline notes
  • Winemaking process:

This dry Riesling comes mainly from the steep slate slopes of the Zeltinger Himmelreich, with a little from Bernkastel. At Selbach-Oster the musts settle by gravity and ferment cool, often with wild yeasts, in traditional 1,000-litre oak Fuder casks and steel. The family has grown Riesling on the Middle Mosel since 1661.

    Interesting notes:

    • “Trocken” means dry
    • Mosel wines are known for low alcohol and high acidity
    • Slate soils contribute to its distinctive mineral and slightly saline finish
    • Erzeugerabfullung: Estate Bottled

    Vinoteka

    Vinoteka's note

Dry estate Riesling, mostly from the Zeltinger Himmelreich on blue slate, fermented slowly with wild yeasts in steel and old Fuder casks. Minty herbs, lime, lemon, green apple and aniseed; powerful yet crunchy, with a long echo. Only 12%. Serve with poultry, fish, shellfish or mussels.

“Elegant and peachy dry Mosel riesling that combines good substance with delicacy.”James Suckling · 92 / 100 · 2023
