Wine Rudolf Furst, Chardonnay R, 2022
Characteristics
Wine Style:
Crafted in a premium, Burgundian-style Chardonnay with a strong focus on structure and complexity. It shows greater depth and richness, with well-integrated oak and a fuller body compared to entry-level Chardonnay. The style is elegant yet powerful, combining minerality, creaminess, and excellent aging potential.
Tasting Notes:
The wine reveals aromas of ripe apple, pear, citrus, and stone fruit, layered with notes of vanilla, toast, and subtle spice from oak aging. On the palate, it is rich and creamy, with balanced acidity supporting its concentration and depth. After-taste is long, smooth, and complex, with lingering notes of oak, minerality, and ripe fruit.
Gastronomy:
Pairs perfectly with lobster, scallops, and rich seafood dishes. It also complements roasted chicken, veal, creamy sauces, and buttery dishes. Its richness and structure make it ideal for fine dining cuisine and complex, flavor-driven dishes.
Vineyards:
Grapes come from the “grand cru” vineyard Karthäuser and grow on meagre, white shell limestone. Karthäuser wines are distinguished by minerality derived from shell limestone soils. They are particularly fine and silky and taste of pear and grapefruit.
Winemaking process:
The grapes are gently crushed with the feet. The wines ferment in small oak barrels and mature on the gross lees for a minimum of 16 months before bottling.
Interesting notes:
The wines from Karthauser vineyard distinguished by minerality derived from shell limestone soils. They are particularly fine and silky and taste of pear and grapefruit. After adequate bottle maturation, beautiful brioche and hazelnut notes appear.
