Wine Rudolf Furst, Astheimer Chardonnay, 2022
Fine and elegant, dry Chardonnay with subtle oak note, hazelnut, stone fruit, fine spice and smoky nuances.
Characteristics
Wine Style:
This wine is crafted in a dry, elegant, and Burgundian-style Chardonnay, reflecting careful vineyard selection and winemaking. It shows balanced structure with fresh acidity, subtle oak influence, and a medium to full body. The style is refined, mineral-driven, and precise, emphasizing finesse over power.
Tasting Notes:
The wine offers aromas of green apple, pear, citrus, and hints of stone fruit, with subtle notes of vanilla and toast. On the palate, it is fresh and structured, with creamy texture balanced by lively acidity and mineral undertones. The finish is clean, elegant, and persistent, with a delicate touch of oak and spice.
Gastronomy:
Tasting with grilled seafood, lobster, and creamy pasta dishes. It also complements roasted chicken, veal, and buttery sauces. Its balance of freshness and richness makes it ideal for fine dining dishes and classic European cuisine.
Vineyards:
“grand cru” vineyard Karthäuser with white shell limestone. Karthäuser wines are distinguished by minerality derived from shell limestone soils. They are particularly fine and silky and taste of pear and grapefruit.
Ageing method:
small barrels and stainless steel tanks for 6 - 12 months
Winemaking process:
The grapes are gently crushed with the feet. The wines ferment in small oak barrels and mature on the gross lees for a minimum of 16 months before bottling.
Interesting notes:
Karthäuser (vineyard where the grapes come from) wines are distinguished by minerality derived from shell limestone soils. They are particularly fine and silky and taste of pear and grapefruit. After adequate bottle maturation, beautiful brioche and hazelnut notes appear.
