Gastronomy:
Grilled meat, lamb, jamón Ibérico, charcuterie, mature cheeses, oily fish and salads with meat or nuts.
Vineyards:
∙ Mucientes vineyard: Tempranillo planted in 1924; sand, limestone and gypsum-rich clay over clay and marl; yield of 3,000 kg/ha.
∙ Pedrosa del Rey vineyard: Tempranillo and Garnacha planted in 1946 and 1956; sandstone, clay and calcareous conglomerate soils; yield of 3,500 kg/ha.
Ageing method:
Aged for 10 months in used 500-litre French oak barrels.
Interesting notes:
∙ La Provincia combines three old vineyards planted in 1924, 1946 and 1956, reflecting Valladolid’s diverse terroirs.
∙ Tempranillo contributes structure and depth, while the high proportion of Garnacha brings freshness, juiciness and approachability.
