About this wine
Wine Style:
White - A tropical-focused wine that is elegant and bright. It also exhibits a subtle flintiness and great minerality.
Tasting Notes:
Shines bright yellow with a green shimmer in the glass. On the nose, generous tropical fruits, especially passion fruit, papaya, grapefruit, watermelon and a touch of hibiscus balanced by a gentle flinty bed. The palate impresses with a soft, supple, harmonious style with mineral components. Very balanced with an opulent, wide-ranging and long finish.
Sommelier's advice:
Drink as an aperitif or enjoy with seafood, poultry, snacks and vegetable dishes.
Vineyards:
Loess Loam soil.
Maturation:
Matured in used barrels on the fine lees
Winemaking process:
The juice stays on the skins for 24 hours, is left to settle and then fermented in stainless steel with minimal intervention. Rebholz has made wine without chaptalisation or added sweet reserve for generations and is certified organic. Weissburgunder is the German name for Pinot Blanc, a natural mutation of Pinot.
Interesting notes:
“This wine shows earthy minerals, aromas of ash and spiced melon. On the palate, the wine has an oily texture with dominant nutty melon and mineral spice.” (K&L Wine Merchants). Impressively unusual Pinot Blanc (Weisser Burgunder) coming from a top German producer.
Vinoteka's note
Biodynamic Pinot Blanc fermented spontaneously in steel with no oak, so, as the Rebholz family puts it, it tastes like itself. Pale gold with green reflections; pear, quince, green apple, honeydew melon, fresh bread and almonds; juicy fruit against fresh acidity, with a spicy mid-palate and lingering finish. Pour it with sea fish, poultry in a light sauce, veal schnitzel or asparagus with hollandaise.
