Appearance:

Winemaking process:
The Mileto Crianza in magnum, from Bodegas Alvia in Ventosa, Rioja Alta. By Rioja rules it is aged for at least two years, including a minimum of one year in oak barrels. Alvia's winery stands on the Camino de Santiago, and the larger bottle lets the wine develop more slowly than a standard 75cl.
Interesting notes:
A Magnum holds twice the volume of a standard bottle but has a lower oxygen-to-wine ratio. The wine therefore develops more slowly and retains freshness longer.

Mileto is the everyday range of Bodegas Alvia, the Rioja Alta winery on the Camino de Santiago that was founded to save century-old vineyards. The Crianza is 85 % Tempranillo with Garnacha and Mazuelo, hand-picked, fermented in stainless steel and aged at least twelve months in American and French oak. Very intense garnet, with cherry, strawberry and liquorice and well-integrated oak, a structured palate with balanced acidity and a long finish. A 1.5-litre bottle for a big table: serve at 16–18 °C with grilled meats or paella.
