Wine False Bay, Bush Vine Pinotage, 2019
This uniquely South African variety has a spectrum of rare aromas and flavors that cannot be replicated. This wine is especially rustic, with savory notes, fruity notes and just a hint of rich, chocolate aromas.
Characteristics
Wine Style:
Red - This variety is used to produce a rustic style of wine that cannot be replicated.
Tasting Notes:
Deep red, this is a richly-fruited, yet savoury and satisfying Pinotage. Plummy aromas with a faint hit of barbecued meat. The palate is full and rich with slightly rustic yet moreish tannins and an impressively long finish.
Gastronomy:
Delicious with soft and aged cheese, BBQ meats, spicy seafood paella, pork belly, venison, and old fashioned bangers and mash.
Vineyards:
The wine is from coastal, dry-farmed bush vines which have had time to adapt and find their happy place.
Ageing method:
Large oak vats for 8 months.
Winemaking process:
Balanced grapes are hand-harvested, fermented spontaneously with wild yeast and then raised in large wooden casks (foudres). The resulting wine, therefore, is perhaps more 'Pino' than 'Tage'. No additions other than sulphur as a preservative. Grown, made and bottled in South Africa. Vegan-friendly wine.
Interesting notes:
False Bay - Real Wine, Coastal Vineyards, Sustainably Farmed, Hand Picked, Naturally Crafted, Wild Ferment, Cask Aged.
