Wine Boscarelli, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG "Costa Grande", 2018
An intense ruby red colour, tending to become more garnet with age. It has an intense and sometimes ethereal aroma, with characteristic fruity notes of black cherry, floral violet and spicy.
Characteristics
Wine Style:
Medium ruby color, almost opaque. Feels fresh and fragrant, with slightly bold and tannins, quite dry and with a refined acidity that calms down with proper breathing.
Tasting Notes:
Palate: distillate of bitterish dark cherry & dry prune, bathing in earthy notes (cacao) and weaker woody notes (licorice). A little aroma of roses, violets, tobacco, leather, underbrush. Medium body, juicy red fruit flavors as strawberries, cherries with spice and plummy hints, austere edges, integrated acidity and rich but fine tannins.
Gastronomy:
Beef steak, poultry and game (deer, venison)
Ageing method:
Aged for the first year in Tonneaux of 5 hl and for the second year in barrels of 25 hl, few months in concrete vats and from 6 to 12 months in bottle before its release.
Winemaking process:
The grapes are picked manually and transported in crates. After de-stemming and soft pressing, they are fermented in oak vats filled to no more than two-thirds of their capacity. Indigenous yeast is used in the fermentation process that lasts about a week at controlled temperatures from 28 to 30 degrees. Maceration and extraction from the skins continues, where possible, for another 5 to 8 days after fermentation.
Interesting notes:
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was one of the original four DOCGs created in 1980 and it must contain at least 70% Prugnolo Gentile (aka Sangiovese). Super smooth and delish. Notes of cherry oak plum tobacco leather licorice red cherry, strawberry and a nice long finish
