Wine Altos Las Hormigas, Revolver Chardonnay, 2016
This Burgundy inspired Chardonnay proves that even the unlikeliest regions can produce superb quality wines. This Chardonnay is naturally fermented in concrete eggs, which adds an immensely unique characteristic as the wine stands as a hidden gem.
White - A Burgundy-inspired Chardonnay with a unique set of Chardonnay traits. A real hidden gem.
The nose shows white flowers, pear, apricot with lifted notes of nutmeg, mace, and flinty mineral quality. The restrained palate shows honeysuckle, pear, toasted almond paste, with light hints of whipped honey butter.
Ideal to pair with smoked pork or chicken and vegetarian dishes and light curries.
This 100% Chardonnay is from a high elevation vineyard in the Gualtallary region of the Uco valley. Planted on alluvial soil with abundant lime-covered rocks.
50% Concrete Egg and 50% second use french oak barrels
Revolver is Burgundy inspired, and the wines are naturally fermented in neutral barrels and concrete eggs.
Leonardo Erazo, the winemaker of Altos Las Hormigas, produces a small amount of Chardonnay from a parcel planted on limestone located in Gualtallary in the Uco Valley of Mendoza. As for the reason for the name, Leonardo explained that he wanted something that would show the character of the wine, that would have power. Then he thought of The Beatles, one of his favourite bands, and the Revolver album that meant a break in the band's musical history.
