Wine Altos Las Hormigas, Revolver Chardonnay, 2016

1 030 000

This 100% Chardonnay is from a high elevation vineyard in the Gualtallary region of the Uco Valley. The nose shows white flowers, pear, apricot with lifted notes of nutmeg, mace, and flinty mineral quality. The restrained palate shows honeysuckle, pear, toasted almond paste, with light hints of whipped honey butter. Bright acid and no oak shine through on this tiny production Chardonnay. (Courtesy of Brazos Imports). Grippy on the palate and of incredible length. It is reminiscent of a Meursault Chardonnay.

Interesting notes:

Leonardo Erazo, the winemaker of Altos Las Hormigas, produces a small amount of Chardonnay from a parcel planted on limestone located in Gualtallary in the Uco Valley of Mendoza. As for the reason for the name, Leonardo explained that he wanted something that would show the character of the wine, that would have power. Then he thought of The Beatles, one of his favourite bands, and the Revolver album that meant a break in the band's musical history.
