Merlot wines
Merlot is the most planted grape in Bordeaux and dominates many right-bank wines, including Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. It gives soft, round reds with plum, black cherry and chocolate flavours and gentler tannins than Cabernet Sauvignon, its frequent blending partner. Its smooth texture makes it an easy match for roast pork, duck and dishes with soy or caramel sauce, such as thịt kho.
