Quinta das Arcas
Minho, Portugal
"Our wines are a discovery of new emotions. It is a result of dedication and persistence working in harmony with nature"
Quintas das Arcas have vineyards in two winemaking regions of Portugal: Vinho Verde and Alentejo. This family winery was founded by Antonio Monteiro in 1985 and currently managing 200 hectares of vineyards in premium vine growing locations. The area has a rich history of winemaking, with references going as far back as the Ancient Greeks, so there is no shortage of knowledge about how to get the best out of the land.
Antonio Monteiro presents wines of astonishing value, bright, fresh, balanced with moderate alcohol and fitting for any occasion. These wines pair fantastically well with classical Mediterranean fare: cheeses, olives, olive oil, and just fresh vegetables or rustic charcuterie. It is a favourite with Asian cuisine.
The grapes are hand-picked on the estate and checked before making it to the winery. The strict approach to the quality of the grapes ensures that winemakers at Conde Villar have the best base in creating these complex wines. Their great efforts and hard work has paid off with Conde Villar Branco winning several awards from Decanter and IWC( International Wine Challenge)
We enjoy these wines immensely and with unhidden pleasure carrying 6 of their wines, including the delicious Palmira Tawny Port from Quinta das Arcas in our portfolio.
Conde Villar Branco 2018
Tapada de Villar Reserva 2014
This is a full spicy wine, a blend of Alicante Buschet, Touriga Nacional, and Syrah. Toasty flavour, a smoky character, and rich blackberry fruits give this wine a dense, toasty character. Drink it now. - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 88 points
