About this wine

Wine Style:

Elegant, dry, light–medium-bodied Pinot Noir (cool-climate style)

Tasting Notes:

Apperance

  • Pale ruby
  • Aroma

  • Red cherry, strawberry, light spice, subtle earth
  • Palate

  • Silky, fresh, medium-bodied, fine tannins, bright acidity
  • Finish

  • Clean, elegant, lightly peppery
  • Winemaking process:

Most of the fruit comes from the steep Zeltinger Himmelreich vineyard, on blue Devonian slate in the Middle Mosel. The 2022 was fermented with 10–15% whole clusters and aged in old Mosel fuder casks, which keeps the fruit pure and fresh. The Selbach family has been making wine in Zeltingen since 1661.

    Interesting notes:

    Estate bottled (Gutsabfüllung)

  • Gutsabfüllung: bottled at the estate → ensures full control over quality

  • Vinoteka

    Vinoteka's note

A rare red from a family that has grown Riesling on the Mosel for four hundred years: Pinot Noir is a small share of Selbach-Oster's vines, planted on blue Devonian slate in Zeltinger Himmelreich and Kinheim Rosenberg. Wild-yeast fermentation with 10–15 % whole clusters, then old Mosel Fuder casks and no new oak. Light-bodied, silky and refined, made in the house spirit of "less is more". Best drunk young, lightly chilled.

    “Silky, lush and refined on the palate, this is a charmingly round and silky-textured Pinot.”Wine Advocate · 91–93 / 100 · 2022
