Winemaking process:

Felseneck is a steep, south-facing Grosse Lage in Bockenau on blue Devonian slate, with slopes of 50% and more. Low-yielding grapes are picked selectively by hand, fermented spontaneously in steel tanks and matured on site. The name means "rock corner", and this GG is regarded as Tim Fröhlich's flagship wine.

Vinoteka

Vinoteka's note

Felseneck is a steep, sun-facing slope of cool blue slate above Bockenau, farmed organically by Tim Fröhlich, one of the Nahe's most celebrated growers. The 2023 Grosses Gewächs is a dry, powerful Riesling with lime zest, green apple, wet stone and white flowers, a tight spine of acidity, a touch of smoke and a long, lightly salty finish. Drinks from release and will age for many years; serve at 10–12 °C with fish, seafood or vegetable dishes.

“Enormous flinty energy that extends into every corner of your palate.”James Suckling · 98 / 100 · 2023

Written by the Vinoteka team from the producer's technical sheet.
