About this wine

Wine Style:

White - A perfect food-pairing wine, this vibrant and slightly herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc is the ideal seafood wine.

Tasting Notes:

Fresh herbaceous characters on the nose with gooseberry and capsicum notes. On the palate simply delicious gooseberry, capsicum, passionfruit and lime/citrus flavours with a lovely background of mineral and nettle tones. Fresh, fruity & vibrant with good weight and length.

Sommelier's advice:

Ideal as an aperitif or to enjoy with seafood, salads, snacks, chicken, pork and soft cheese.

Vineyards:

The vineyard is a natural carbon sink as we mulch vine prunings, grasses, herbs, leaves and grape mark back into the soil. This also increases the soil depth and organic matter which is rich in natural fertility and hosts millions of beneficial organisms and insects.

Winemaking process:

The old vines are on Scott Henry trellising whilst the new vines were trellised on vertical shoot position. The fruit was picked from the 31st of March, crushed and de-stemmed before being cool fermented to preserve the vibrant, fresh Sauvignon characters.

Interesting notes:

Richmond Plains produced New Zealand’s first certified organic Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wine.

Vinoteka

Vinoteka's note

New Zealand's first Sauvignon Blanc from certified organic and biodynamic grapes, from a small Nelson estate farmed organically since 1991. Gooseberry, green pepper and freshly cut grass with green citrus and lime; super fresh, with passionfruit, capsicum and a nettle-like minerality. Made for seafood.

Written by the Vinoteka team from the producer's technical sheet.
