Wine Richmond Plains, Riesling, 2016
Considering Riesling is a internationally praised white wine, it comes as no surprise that this wine is ultra-complex and aromatic wine. This wine is lively with all the acidity, fruit-notes, floral notes and body you expect from a premium Riesling.
Characteristics
Wine Style:
White- This Riesling is an ultra-complex that portrays Riesling’s diversity with a fragrant floral aroma and refreshing acidity.
Tasting Notes:
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is taut with finely concentrated aromas of savoury lime fruit with yellow florals and a soft amalgam of honeysuckle and minerals, unfolding a suggestion of toast. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is lively with soft flavours of lime fruit with florals, and a savoury honeysuckle and mineral overlay.
Gastronomy:
A perfect aperitif or to be enjoyed with light meals, soft cheese, fruits, desserts, seafood and white meat stews.
Vineyards:
These vineyards flourish on the ancient alluvial terraces through which rivers flow from the mountains to the sea. These stony soils, combined with Nelson’s cool maritime climate and high sunshine hours, produce grapes and wines of the finest quality.
Winemaking process:
Beautifully ripe fruit was harvested in April and grapes were whole bunch pressed and the juice cool-fermented to preserve primary fruit characters. A small amount of residual sugar was retained to provide balance to the natural fruit acids.
