Winemaking process:
Taraboste is Château Vartely's top collection, made from hand-selected Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the estate's southern vineyards, with each variety matured separately in oak before blending. The name honours the tarabostes, the Geto-Dacian nobles of antiquity, said to be named after the caps only the wealthy could wear.
Interesting notes:
Geto – Dacian nobles, who lived in the Roman Dacia of Trajan Emperor in the period 106-271 BC, were awarded with the title of Taraboste aristocrats. The term comes from the form of hats, which the nobility of the ancient period was wearing.

Vartely's top red, named after the Tarabostes, the nobles of ancient Dacia. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from vines planted in 2002–2004 near Budjak, aged 18 months in new barrels. A rich bouquet of ripe pomegranate, blackcurrant and oriental spice; intense yet velvety, with dried plum and bitter cherry over a tannic backbone. Gold medal at Mundus Vini 2023. Serve at 16–18 °C with lamb chops, steak or mature cheese; it will keep developing in the cellar.
