Winemaking process:
Marina Alta is Bocopa's tribute to Muscat of Alexandria grown in the coastal Marina Alta district of Alicante. The grapes are lightly crushed, given brief skin contact and fermented cool in small stainless steel tanks to keep the aromas. Muscat of Alexandria is one of the oldest grape varieties still cultivated, usually made sweet.
Interesting notes:
Muscat of Alexandria is commonly associated with sweet wines, but Marina Alta presents the variety in a dry, fresh and aromatic style.
Vinoteka's note
Marina Alta was launched in 1993 by Bocopa, the union of Alicante cooperatives, and its first 50,000 bottles sold out within days, faster than the bottling line could keep up. A dry white from Moscatel de Alejandría, it keeps all the grape's perfume without the sweetness: pale straw and crystalline, with fresh Muscat, white flowers and fresh fruit, full and fruity on the palate with aniseed and fennel and a round balance. The wine took the top "Gran Oro" at the 2025 Valencian single-varietal competition. Serve very cold with shellfish, fish, rice dishes or as an aperitif.
