Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a popular region of France. This André Brunel is excellent for the newcomer in "heavy wines.” It earns on a couple more years in the cellar and should be decanted before serving.

The nose is rich and expressive with blackberry and currant notes. The palate is equally powerful with leather notes, grippy tannins, and a long finish.

Red meat, especially game meat, works exceptionally well with these Grenache-based wines.
Vineyards:
The vineyards lack limestone but have generous amounts of clay with adds minerality. The Mistral contributes to the concentration of the grapes and the ability to grow pesticide-free grapes.

The wine is only produced when the vintage is considered exceptional and is often a blend of 90% Grenache with 10% of Syrah.
