Tenuta Montemagno
Asti, Piedmont, Italy
Tenuta Montemagno is situated on the gentle hills of Monferrato and produces wines that belong to the best 100 of Italy. The vineyards, wines, and relais convey profound individuality, rich quality, and uniqueness - everything is made with passion.
Tenuta Montemagno with its 100 ha of immaculate vineyards, state of the art production, and tasting facilities is a dream come true where no expense was spared in setting up this winery.
Everything at the winery is designated for minimal impact on the environment, including hand-picking the grapes, using native yeast, and using the absolute minimum sulfates possible. Tiziano Barea, president of TM, says that consumers need not worry, they will have "no headaches at all" from these wines.
The winery is making several Piemonte classics like Barbera, Barolo (from outsourced grapes), and some lesser-known and, therefore, more exciting wines like Grignolino, Ruchè, Malvasia di Casorzo, Timorasso. All of them solid and unique in character.
The first in our selection is - Tenuta Montemagno Soranus Barolo 2012
This opens with underbrush, sage, and tobacco aromas. The lean tannic palate evokes mocha and cherry marinated in spirits alongside clenching astringent tannins - Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 86 points.
Tenuta Montemagno Frizzante , Dulcem Malvasia di Casorzo, 2017
A dessert red wine made from the extremely rare Malvasia di Casorzo grape indigenous only from this area. Naturally effervescent and bursting with sweet cherries and plums. - TM Wines
These wines are a testament of quality and excellence from one end of the spectrum to the other.
