Justino's Madeira was founded in 1870 on Madeira by Justino Henrique Freitas as a family company, known then as Justino Henriques, and became a limited company in 1953. It is one of the oldest producers and exporters of Madeira wine. In 1993 it joined forces with the French group La Martiniquaise, and by the end of 1995 it had moved from the centre of Funchal to a new winery in the Cancela industrial park, Santa Cruz. The company holds one of the largest stocks of Madeira wine on the island, from young Tinta Negra wines to old vintage Frasqueiras.
