Capanna lies in the Montosoli area, just north of Montalcino in the province of Siena. The Cencioni family has owned it since 1957: Giuseppe Cencioni founded the estate with his sons Benito and Franco, and bottling began in the 1960s, the decade Brunello di Montalcino became a DOC. Today Patrizio and Amedeo Cencioni, the third and fourth generations, personally look after the 25 hectares and the cellar, producing Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, Moscadello, Sant'Antimo, olive oil and grappa.
