Wine Selbach Oster, Trutta Fario Riesling Kabinett, 2017
A typical Mosel Riesling will all the distinct features of lightness, elegance, minerality plus extra qualities such as hints of kerosene (yes, literally, a characteristic of an excellent Riesling) peach, citrus, elderflower and pear. Being a classical Mosel Riesling it is off-dry in style. Extremely versatile food companion including spicy dishes. Worth to mention 10.0% alc. content, which makes it a label of choice in the Vietnamese climate.
Fruity and very drinkable Riesling. Nicely balanced and smooth, light and fresh tasting. No wood ageing.
Bright golden-yellow colour with aromas dominated by white fruit, citrus and minerals. On the palate, the wine is lush and elegant with fruity flavours and a long, refreshing mineral finish.
This wine is perfect to be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with white meat dishes and delicious with seafood. Try it with a spicy curry dish and be surprised how well it compliments the meal!
Spontaneous fermentation, mostly in stainless steel but there are some large old Mosel fuders used as well.
“Johannes Selbach, this estate’s winemaker and the director is on fire. His wines are top-flight and yet his winemaking appears to be improving with each vintage. Readers should note that Selbach’s wines typically appear substantially better after a few years of cellaring.” – Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate
