Characteristics
Wine Style:
Red - This wine is a classic style of Barolo. With great complexity, boldness, body, and structure, it is an A-class wine.
Tasting Notes:
Intense garnet red with brick hue. On the nose, it opens with aromas suggesting underbrush, chopped sage, wild berry and a whiff of leather. On the full-bodied and clean palate, notes of cinnamon and liquorice add depth to dark cherry and fresh raspberry. The tannins are fine and silky. The good acidity contributes to great ageing potential. A Barolo in which the characteristic of Nebbiolo grapes are expressed in their most delicate and elegant version.
Gastronomy:
Perfect with game and red meats. Superb with dishes garnished with white truffle of Alba. Excellent with mature hard cheeses.
Vineyards:
Clayey and little calcareous, rich in magnesium oxide and manganese, composition that gives elegance and complexity; alkaline pH.
Ageing method:
24 months in Slovenian and French oak, 12 months in bottle.
Winemaking process:
Grapes are hand-picked into small crates; mid/end October. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with a maceration on the skins of over 20 days. Malolactic fermentation in oak. No filtration before bottling.
Interesting notes:
Wine of incredible longevity. If properly stored, it matures slowly and steadily in the bottle, expressing its magnitude even after 20-plus years.
