Wine Lammershoek, Terravinum Reserve White, 2015
This wine is considered a rare white blend, that offers generous green and flinty notes. As an unusual blend, of Chenin, Chardonnay and Viognier, it highlights some of South Africa's unique whites.
Characteristics
Wine Style:
White - A rare white blend that bursts with flavor. It's elegant, highly aromatic, and has subtle spicey notes.
Tasting Notes:
Light wheat yellow. The nose is slightly chalky at first, then It opens to flowery, rose petals and honey. The mouthfeel of flowers, strawberries, hints of lemon and medium-intensity on the nose of tropical fruits. Dry with slightly earthy undertones rounded off by a creamy medium finish.
Gastronomy:
Lovely food wine that pairs fantastically with Asian cuisine, grilled meats, aged cheese and tropical fruits.
Ageing method:
Concrete, stainless steel and oak barrels.
Winemaking process:
Farmed dry-land, thus not irrigated. Selected from various pockets of grapes. The vines are aged between 15 – 51 years. Handpicked early in the morning and cooled overnight. All the varietals were handled separately in the cellar and the final blend was only made after the 8-month ageing process. The wines were fermented and aged in various size concrete, stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
