Wine De Martino, Legado Chardonnay Reserva, 2017
Yellow straw colour. Fresh aromas of ripe citrus and stone fruits are combined with mineral salty notes. The palate is medium-bodied and soft textured with an intensity of fruit balanced by fresh acidity and moderate alcohol. Has a long finish with a lingering salty undertone.
A good solid Chardonnay. Refreshing, fruity and very well rounded. Oak aged. 'An understated style with a gently enticing nose of fresh peach, melon and a hint of curry leaf. Elegant balance of fruit freshness and savoury, creamy elements. Subtle and stylish.' - Decanter
Straw yellow colour, intense aromas of tropical fruits, herbs and peaches. Mouthfeel is balanced, fresh, high acidity, and at the end a slightly salty taste, typical and characteristic of the wines from the Limarí Valley.
Fantastic food wine that goes well with rich flavourful dishes such as salmon, curries, lamb and venison.
Coastal Limari Valley, 20 km. Distance from the Pacific Ocean. 100% Chardonnay planted in 2005. The vineyard uses the traditional trellis method, with 5 000 plants per hectare of ungrafted vines. Here the unique terroir that combines a high content of calcium carbonate with clay gives the wines personality, minerality and a unique quality.
Aged for 11 months in neutral barrels.
Grapes are destemmed and lightly pressed avoiding extraction of bitter phenolic characteristics. The juice is left to settle and then racked in used French oak barrels (228 litres) where alcoholic fermentation is carried out with natural yeast at ambient temperatures that range from 18C to 22 C. Minimum battonage and partial malolactic fermentation (30%).
You will be very impressed with the after taste of the wine. The wine was matured in whisky barrels and you can feel it from the first sip. Whisky lovers should love this wine. We love it!
